Gayatri: Light & Sound Yoga Retreat

April 24 - 26, 2026
Sandy Saulteaux Spiritual Centre, Beausejour, MB

Illumine your heart and awaken your voice with Shell & Anton!

Join us for a rejuvenating all-inclusive weekend retreat devoted to Light and Sound, the timeless sources of inspiration in Yoga.

As spring unfolds and the sun lengthens its hours of light, we will learn the Yogic wisdom of Surya: the sun. We'll gather in community to explore the philosophy and practice of the Gayatri Mantra, learning not only how and why to chant it, but also the deeper meaning it carries: illumination, clarity, and inner awakening.

Sunrise Asana Practice, Sandy Saulteaux Spiritual Centre

Location: Sandy Saulteaux Spiritual Centre is located near Beausejour, Manitoba on 36 peaceful acres of wooded parkland beside the Brokenhead River.

Schedule: Arrive Friday between 5:30-6:30pm for room check in. We'll gather at 7pm for our first session. We'll be together until 2pm Sunday.

Our days will weave together:

  • Asana practice: We dive into gentle & modified Surya Namaskar (Sun Salutations) to prepare the body as a vessel for light.

  • Pranayama & Meditation: We reflect and focus on inner radiance and Prana (Life Force) to quiet the mind and attune to subtle vibrations.

  • Chanting & Kirtan: We learn the Sanskrit names of the sun and chant the long and short form Gayatri Mantra to open the heart and experience the power of sacred sound.

  • Philosophical Discussions: We hear about rich ancient teachings and rituals on Surya and how its connected to Prana, appreciating and acknowledging the sun, as both a cosmic force and an inner guide. We’ll explore the deeper meaning of Gayatri chants, specifically the common Gayatri Mantra, and how to use this chant in your daily life.

Nourishment will come from five wholesome vegetarian meals, shared in community, along with the simple gifts of fresh air, mindful walks, and time in nature.

Together, we will create space not only for inner reflection, but also for meaningful connection with others, building a community of practice and joy.

This retreat is an opportunity to reconnect with your inner radiance; to experience how light and sound can transform consciousness, and to celebrate the warmth of spring in the company of kindred spirits.
